Wembley Lacrosse Club v Bayswater Lacrosse Club

Women’s lacrosse is back and we couldn’t be more excited!!!

The action starts out West where we find our first ALN Game of the Week between perennial powerhouse Wembley and Bayswater, who make their return to State League competition in 2018 as a stand alone team (having played as part of Union for the past few seasons).

Wembley will be looking to start 2018 well after losing the 2018 Grand Final to East Fremantle Lacrosse Club. The Green and Gold will be looking to their core of experienced stars and up and coming juniors to reclaim the 2018 flag. Wembley are spoilt with depth having formed a deep 18 player State League squad to ensure that competition for spots will remain hot all year.

Hannah Mae Brown will again bear a considerable workload for Wembley as will world class goalkeeper Elizabeth Buzzy Hinkes who returns in 2018. They will be supported by an exciting crop of youngsters including Bailey Eastman and Lucy Brown as well as former Union stars Carlyn Blair and Libby Blair.

Bayswater on the other hand will be looking forward to running out in the Red and Green for the first time in a number of years in what will be a terrific development for the club.

Wembley will want to be on their game though as Bayswater possess a host of talented players who can burn you if you are not on your game. Under the tutelage of Liz Shields, experienced players like Emma Green, Maddy Koelmeyer and Rachel Anderson will be looking to lead Bayswater into 2018 and mentor an exciting crop of youngsters which includes Lacrosse WA U18 reps Millie Doherty, Isla Fraser, Chloe Tatlow and Rebecca Adamson.

Wembley first up was always going to be a big ask for Bayswater in their return but they boast enough talent to make a game of this. We expect Wembley’s depth to be the big advantage in this game but it promises to be an intriguing matchup to kick off 2018 and to christian Shipwreck Cove, the new home of the Alkimos “Pirates” Lacrosse Club.
